The new Chipotle in Malta, NY is finally complete with its signage in place, and is officially open. KC Entities Roofing and Siding handled the roofing system for this project, working alongside BBL Construction Services, the general contractor for the build. BBL handled everything from site work and framing to siding and the storefront systems. Commercial projects like this one require a different type of planning than a typical residential roof, and this project was no exception. Here’s a closer look at the roofing system that went into this new Chipotle Malta location:
The roof on this Chipotle location uses a commercial-grade system built for long-term performance and durability, with each layer playing a specific role.
The base of the system is built for strong energy performance, using two layers of rigid foam insulation. This insulation helps the building hold onto conditioned air, which plays a big part in keeping energy costs down year-round. The layers are mechanically fastened, giving the roof a secure, stable foundation to build on.
On top of that sits a fully adhered PVC membrane. PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, is a type of roofing material commonly used on flat and low-slope roofs like this one. Think of this as the roof’s outer shell. It creates a durable, watertight barrier against rain, snow, and everyday wear. This particular membrane is also white, which helps reflect heat instead of absorbing it. That can help reduce cooling costs inside the building, especially during the warmer months.
Durability was also a priority in how this roof was built. The membrane itself is reinforced on the inside, adding extra resistance against tearing or puncturing over time. Where the roofing sheets meet, we used a hot-air welding process instead of adhesive. By using heat instead of gluing the seams, the edges are melted and fused together into one continuous surface. Fewer seams means fewer weak points and a stronger, longer-lasting roof overall.
Takeaway: This roofing system is built to last for decades, keeping the building energy-efficient and protected from the elements.

The roof on the new Chipotle in Malta New York is complete, and the finished roof looks great while offering the durability and performance this kind of commercial building needs. It’s a great example of the kind of commercial roofing work we at KC Entities Roofing and Siding take on across the Capital Region.
A big thank you for BBL Construction Services for bringing us on for this project. We always enjoy working with their team, and we look forward to teaming up on future builds together.
